Some folks -- intentionally or not -- come off as spoiled brats, complaining about getting the wrong gadget, the wrong color gadget, or not enough gadgets. And just like last year, comedy writer Jon Hendren (@fart) is retweeting entitled tweets, most of them being from people complaining they want an iPhone in a different color. "My mom went directly against me. she asked me if I wanted the black or white iPad. I said white, of course. tell me why mine is black," tweeted one user. "I hate my white iPhone ... First African Designed Smartphone, Tablet Hit Market Posted: 25 Dec 2012 03:10 PM PST Congolese entrepreneur Verone Mankou wants his tech startup VMK to be for Africa what Apple is for the U.S. and Samsung is for Asia. That is, he wants the majority of people on the continent to use the African-designed smartphone and tablet he is making. VMK makes a tablet called Way-C, which means "the light of the stars," and now a smartphone called Elikia, which means "hope." Jesus Would Be on Facebook if He Lived Today, German Priest Says Posted: 25 Dec 2012 01:11 PM PST Head of Germany's Catholic Church, Robert Zollitsch, has given everyone celebrating something new to think about the Christmas story. Zollitsch told a German newspaper that if Jesus were alive today, he'd be Facebook friends with all of his followers. "Fundamentally all media are suited to bring the word of God to the people," he told German paper The Local. "Jesus would certainly today be on Facebook and Twitter." Telepresence Robot Brings Remote Co-Workers Into the Office Posted: 25 Dec 2012 11:04 AM PST Having meetings with colleagues who aren't in the room can be challenging. Conference calls feel inpersonal and video chats can be full of glitches. Outside of meetings, though, it can be difficult to make remote workers feel like they're a part of company culture. Now a 5-foot-tall robot called Beam, that has a large video screen for a head, can bring people from around the world into the office. The robot can see, hear, talk and "walk." Beam, made by Suitable Technologies, is just one of dozens of telepresence robots currently on the market. Apple Guideline Changes Give $140,000 Kickstarter the Green Light Posted: 25 Dec 2012 08:56 AM PST POP charger, a $140,000 Kickstarter project to create a universal charger for phones -- including Apple devices -- was killed last week due to its incompatibility with Apple's strict guidelines for Lightning accessories. In an unexpected turn of events, Apple has revised its Lightning guidelines, which means the POP project once again has the green light. The Kickstarter campaign for POP raised nearly $140,000 -- more than double its goal -- before the project was shut down. Now, one of the project's founders, Jamie Siminoff, claims the project will continue to go as planned. This time, however, there's some extra spice in the form of a new regular cast member: Jenna-Louise Coleman debuts in "The Snowmen" as the Doctor's next companion. Except it's not her debut.
