The Pirate Bay Moves Servers to the U.S., Becomes Freedom Bay Posted: 01 Apr 2013 03:12 AM PDT After trying its luck to North Korea, the world's largest BitTorrent tracker, The Pirate Bay, has announced it has moved its servers to the U.S. "We have worked closely with the awesome american government to establish a strong military graded server park that will endure any nuclear attacks that Kim Jong Un and his evil allies will send at US," writes The Pirate Bay in a blog post. This news, which comes on a very significant date, also means some changes in the way The Pirate Bay operates. The site says it will remove all torrents from certain countries, and seed American torrents with "extra power." Read more... More about The Pirate Bay, Tech, and Freedom Bay |
AT&T Says It Has an 'Exclusive' on the 64GB HTC One in the U.S. Posted: 01 Apr 2013 02:23 AM PDT If you're in the U.S. and looking for a bit of extra storage on your HTC One, AT&T might be your destination. The nation's second-largest wireless provider has announced it will get an "exclusive" 64GB version of HTC's next-flagship.
In a video on its YouTube account, the carrier made it clear that no other carrier in the U.S. would get the added storage. We knew the 64GB version was out there, it's just the "exclusive" part we weren't so sure about. We suspect only the hardcore users will want to get the larger version — 64GB of space seems like a bit much even for the biggest media junkies. HTC will also be making available a 8GB and 16GB version on T-Mobile and Sprint stateside. Read more... More about Att, Marketing, Tech, Gadgets, and Htc One |

Google Revolutionizes Its Email Service by Introducing Gmail Blue Posted: 31 Mar 2013 10:52 PM PDT Google has added another prank to its April Fools' Day playbook by introducing a colorful change to Gmail. Called Gmail Blue, the search giant's latest effort to revolutionize its email service is as simple as it sounds: to make Gmail the color blue. Everything from the compose button to the font formatting will be blue. As Google's project manager, Richard Pargo, says in the above video: "It's Gmail, only bluer." Well, not really (in case you're wondering, Gmail is still the same monochromatic interface it's always been). But the announcement, unveiled late Sunday night, makes for a great prank Read more... Google Nose Harnesses Your Sense of Smell for Search Posted: 31 Mar 2013 10:02 PM PDT First, Google pranked its users by claiming to shut down YouTube; then, the search giant introduced old-school "Treasure Maps." But its pièce de résistance for this year's April Fools' Day has got to be Google Nose. Currently in beta, the new feature incorporates scents into Search. Google describes Nose as its "flagship olfactory knowledge feature enabling users to search for smells." To learn more, watch the semi-serious video, above. Clicking the "Try Google Nose Beta" button on its landing site produces a random search term such as "diaper." On the right-hand side of the results page, there's a description of the term ("baby powder and poop") from the Google Aromabase, as well as the option to smell and share the scent. When users click on "smell," a pop-up prompts them to "Bring your nose as close as you can to the screen and press Enter." A progress bar then indicates that it is transmitting the scent. Did Da Vinci Invent Google Glass? Posted: 31 Mar 2013 06:00 PM PDT Leonard Da Vinci, the 15th-century Renaissance man, is credited with envisioning or outright inventing hundreds of modern-day devices; facsimiles of everything from a machine gun to parachutes and even today's helicopter can be found in his detailed drawings The schematics and notes he left behind are a treasure trove for researchers, including Dr. Burt Wilde. The University of Illinois researcher says he’s discovered evidence that the first design for something very much like Google Glass was created by the master himself. “The drawing is rudimentary, but the text and notation are unmistakable,” said Wilde in a phone interview Read more... Posted: 31 Mar 2013 04:29 PM PDT There's nothing wrong with being a crazy cat lady. Your furry friend is your most loyal companion, always there to take a nap on your head or garner likes on your Instagram feed
In fact, your cat's probably more reliable than your current beau, and definitely requires less maintenance and attention. She's always up for a mid-day cuddle — which is more than you can say about your significant other — and you don't have to worry about her hogging the sheets (the whole shedding thing is a different story) Even the Internet thinks cats are better than almost everything — have you ever seen Maru in a box, or one notable Grumpy celebrity? Ford C-Max Energi Feels Like the Car of the Future Posted: 31 Mar 2013 01:34 PM PDT One of Ford's most technologically advanced products for 2013 is the C-Max Energi, a plug-in hybrid that Ford says gets 43 miles per gallon. I tested one for a couple of weeks, giving me plenty of time to see what it's like to live with the latest electric-car tech. When I saw this unusual vehicle decked out in a Prius-like color Ford calls "Ice Storm Metallic," it looked to me like a typical four-door hatchback. But hopping into the vehicle, which is about 4 inches higher than most small hatchbacks, it felt like I was sitting in a mini SUV. Conservative website Twitchy has collected many of the responses, with some users threatening to switch their search activities to Microsoft's Bing.

Posted: 31 Mar 2013 10:01 AM PDT So you've cleaned your closet, maybe your inbox, and you're feeling pretty good about your spring cleaning. But before you wash your hands and congratulate yourself — pull out your resume, and take a look at it (whether or not you're looking for a job right now).
You see, your resume is a lot like a closet. At least once a year, it needs a good cleaning. That includes taking a look at what you've got and determining what to keep, what to get rid of, and what to emphasize. Then, after all the unwanted items are cleaned out, you can add in new information to create a resume that's current, relevant, and appealing. Just like your closet, if you don't clean and update it regularly, it's only going to be worse later. Read more... More about Business, Marketing, Jobs, Work Play, and Resume Tips |
