Mayor Jerry Sanders signed the proclamation, honoring the growing presence of social media in the city known for its up-and-coming tech startup scene and tight business community. More than 60,000 of its small businesses are listed on Facebook, with another 42,000 on Foursquare. "San Diego loves social media," said Alex Roth, spokesperson for Sanders. "The mayor knows it's a great tool for keeping the public informed."
